Originally a modest 1950s beach shack in Toowoon Bay, Amari House has been reimagined as a calm, enduring family home designed by Brent Fitzpatrick of Fabric Studio.

The name Amari is drawn from a Māori word meaning “the wind behind you”, a sentiment that shaped the project from the outset. Rather than creating a house for a single moment in time, the ambition was to design a home with longevity: a place that could support family life now, adapt over time, and remain meaningful for future generations.

Set on the Central Coast of New South Wales, the residence balances openness and retreat. Generous living spaces connect naturally to the garden and outdoor entertaining areas, encouraging everyday gathering, play, and connection. More private bedroom zones sit quietly within the plan, creating a sense of calm and separation from the social heart of the home.

Architecturally, Amari House is defined by a soft but grounded material language. Curved balconies, rammed earth walls, natural stone, warm timber, and carefully composed light give the home a sculptural yet relaxed coastal character. A central stair wrapped in limestone battens anchors the interior, bringing texture, rhythm, and a tactile sense of permanence to the home.

Designed as Brent’s own family residence, Amari House reflects the values at the core of Fabric’s work: considered planning, honest materiality, intuitive connection to place, and an architecture that elevates the rituals of daily life.

More than a new home, Amari House is a long-term family legacy. Purposeful, resilient, and quietly expressive.
